Are you sure your name hasn’t been purged from the voter rolls lately? Check your registration status below today!
How about your elderly parents, especially if they’ve missed an election or two recently? And that sibling / friend who hasn’t voted in years? Check on them.
In many states, Republicans are binge-purging voter rolls so that as few people as possible get to vote in 2022 and 2024.
Request an absentee ballot, if available, so that illness, bad weather, polling station switches or vigilante intimidation, etc. do not deprive you or anyone else of your right to cast a vote in these most consequential elections. https://www.usa.gov/register-to-vote
FIGHT FOR VOTING RIGHTS
The majority of the American public and the majority of members of Congress supported the proposed voting rights legislation in Congress in 2021. Three bills protecting voting rights passed the House in 2021 (HR1; HR4; and HR 5746-the Freedom to Vote: John R. Lewis Act), but stalled in the Senate. The existence of the filibuster, combined with a 60 vote requirement to end the filibuster essentially requires 60 senators to pass a bill, not just a simple majority of 51. The Senate is split 50-50 Democrats and Republicans. Not even 10 Republicans voted for any of the voting rights bills.

You read. You have opinions. You have gut reactions to fake news, lies, innuendo, and ignorance of history. Speak up! Respond to that article in the newspaper or its online version. Write a letter to the editor of your local newspaper. Your elected officials will read it. Even if your letter is not published, it can educate and persuade editors. The more letters they receive on a given topic, the more likely they are to dedicate more time in their newspaper to that issue—both on the editorial page and in news articles. It clearly expresses the issue’s importance to the community.
Express your opinions in a public forum and not just among friends on social media.

Josh Shapiro in Pennsylvania, Tony Evers in Wisconsin, Beto O’Rourke in Texas, Stacey Abrams in Georgia, Gretchen Whitmer in Michigan — these are crucial governor races that Democrats must win lest state legislatures overturn elections.
Senators Raphael Warnock in Georgia and Mark Kelly in Arizona and Raphael Warnock have to stay in, and Val Demmings must defeat Marc Rubio in Florida.
LAAD will be focusing on states with Lithuanian American populations, but you can and should get started now on supporting Democratic candidates below.

ADVOCATE FOR DEMOCRACY ABROAD
Stay informed about attacks on democracy in Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia, Ukraine, and Belarus. With over 100,000 Russian troops amassed on the Ukrainian border and 30,000 stationed in Belarus, an invasion of Ukraine would be catastrophic for Ukraine and for all of European stability.
