You read. You have opinions. You have gut reactions to fake news, lies, innuendo, and ignorance of history. Speak up! Respond to that article in the newspaper or its online version. Write a letter to the editor of your local newspaper. Your elected officials will read it. Even if your letter is not published, it can educate and persuade editors. The more letters they receive on a given topic, the more likely they are to dedicate more time in their newspaper to that issue—both on the editorial page and in news articles. It clearly expresses the issue’s importance to the community.

ADVOCATE FOR DEMOCRACY ABROAD
Stay informed about attacks on democracy in Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia, Ukraine, and Belarus. With over 100,000 Russian troops amassed on the Ukrainian border and 30,000 stationed in Belarus, an invasion of Ukraine would be catastrophic for Ukraine and for all of European stability.
